Two Collaborate to Provide Clinical Support
In the past our Operations Team had identified a need to provide more clinical support and resources for both our therapists and our clients. With that in mind, Wendy Mead, RN was hired in 2019 as Regulatory and Reimbursement Specialist to assist our SNF therapists and clients with documentation, coding and billing support as they transitioned to the Patient-Driven Payment Model (PDPM). Wendy’s duties have evolved since then and she has expanded to working on compliance issues across all of RehabVisions’ service lines. Director of Operations Jennifer Flanagan, SLP said Wendy’s expertise and research skills have proven particularly useful during this pandemic. “It’s been so valuable to have a nurse on board to focus on policies for infection control and changing regulations.” Wendy said she has enjoyed the variety as well. “I get to flex to more hot-button issues,” she said.
Sitting next to Wendy at the Home Office where they collaborate is Shelly Hefner, OT. Shelly transitioned from being a team lead in one of our SNFs to Clinical Compliance Specialist within the past year. She focuses on continuing education, whether that be in-house or working with MedBridge, RehabVisions’ new continuing education benefit vendor. Additionally, Shelly said she looks at a lot of metrics to identify opportunities for program growth and therapist training.
She also assists with employee mentorship and documentation training for newer employees. Shelly is currently working on an orientation and documentation audit process for employees across all settings.
“We needed depth in this the area of clinical support,” Jennifer said. “They are working on a variety of projects and there’s no shortage of needs.”
